Yesterday evening I was sitting out on the porch with my book ("How to Make a Horror Movie and Survive" by Craig DiLouie) while Joe was cooking dinner. Gradually, it began to smell like my mom's cooking. I was compelled by the aroma to come inside, and Joe met me at the door, looking accomplished. "It smells so good, baby!" I said. "You can smell it all the way out here?" he said. Indeed, I could. And this Sicilian chick was hongray!
Tonight he did pasta in a red sauce with sausage and peppers. You guys, it was SO GOOD.
That's chick pea pasta, plant protein Italian sausage, and no-salt-added tomato sauce. Green pepper from Johnny D's, a fruit and vegetable shop in the neighborhood, not to be confused with Johnny D's, a popular Davis Square restaurant and music venue that closed in 2016, leaving many a scenester in tears.
The plant-based Italian sausage has some salt, but that's the only salt. And it was a good stand-in for real sausage.
I swear, this guy needs a healthy eating web show. I'm going to start shooting video again...🎥
