...I embrace new tech. It's just that I can sniff out the SHADY or SOON TO BE OBSOLETE new tech. My whole career was in cutting edge tech. Shit, I worked for Wellfleet/Bay Networks/Nortel--we were one of three that helped construct the cloud. I worked for Trip Advisor back when we were writing blurbs about the landmark attractions and seeding the website with user reviews, ya know, just to get it rolling. I helped start EditShare when it was just the inventor and me, IYKYK.
I buy cool tech. I had a two-way pager, then a really early cellphone, then a Blackberry, then all the iPhones. The first model iPad. My 26-year-old blog is on all the platforms, including a few you haven't heard of yet (but it started on Diaryland in 2000). I never owned an iPod. I never messed with TikTok. I never sent in my DNA for genealogy. QR codes are ridiculous. Alexa is right out, no thank you to robots listening to stuff. I never trusted Twitter. Don't even get me started on AI.
All that being said, you can imagine how far back my eyes rolled when this NFT nonsense was popular. So far back. SO far.∎
