Hi everyone,
I started typing this on July 7th 2025, and didn't finish/publish until September 20th! I'm going to use the date July 7th, because I want to use the blog to publish some things I wrote on Facebook that I should have published here.
So it's been five years since I've updated the blog. It's interesting to come back and see which entries have gotten hits on search engines, rising in the ranks of Popular Posts. I see The Star Wars Holiday Special is still making a showing. Good. That's a good one.
As my readers know, as I've written about here, I had some mental health challenges that I’ve been dealing with, with the support of my awesome husband and a whole support system of friends and family.
I’m doing a lot better now.
But a lot has happened.
In August
2023 I had a stroke. While I was in the hospital that week, my husband,
who has rarely had a sick day in his life, had a heart attack and the
following week, a heart transplant!
It’s been…it’s been interesting?
Joe
has some new scars, and he takes a nap every day (that’s new). He sees a
team of doctors regularly, but he’s in pretty good health. It’s like a
miracle, and we’re grateful every day that he’s here, he’s walking
around, he even goes kayaking on the Charles.
The stroke left me with a limp on my right side, I use a cane to go outside (I’m more sure of myself in the house). Idon’t
have use of my right arm (unfortunately I’m right-handed).
Speech-to-text isn’t working that well, so it takes me forever to type.
But I have the time, so I do it. I’ve gotten back on Facebook after some
years, so I’m in touch with friends and family again.
Joe
and I are taking care of each other—mostly he takes care of me—and
staying as quietly stress-free as possible at home. His job as stressful, he hasn't gone back yet. Joe is immuno-compromised now
because of the heart transplant, so we don’t go where it’s crowded, and
both wear masks. Safety first.
I just wanted to share this with
you all, let you know that I’m still alive—against the odds—and
considering the trials of the last ten years, I am doing ok.
